3/19/13

Today in class we talked about the Peloponnese War.  We went over how if they would of had different plans they could of taking over Sparta.  If they wouldn't of tried to talk over Sparta they would be in a much better place.  They could of gotten to the moon in a thousand years.  Not to shabby if you ask me.

3/18/13

Hellenistic- refers to the "international" period of Greek history, when much of the Mediterranean and southwestern Asia was under Greek rule.

358 B.C.- King of Macedonia, Philip the Second came to power and takes control of Greece.

Athens lost the war to Sparta due to the way the Greek leaders tried to fight.  They shouldn't of tried to fight the Spartans in the first place.  They were not to big of a threat in the first place. The were struck by a terrible plague and one fourth of Athens died.  When all of the people of Athens were close together and they became sick.  With out them having a lot of space between them the disease spread quickly.  It was a bad way to fight the Spartans becasue with all the men in the sea they could attack by land.  In the end The Greeks lost to the Spartans and the way of life the Greeks new was over.

3/13/13

Today in class we continued to watch the video about the ancient Greeks.  In this segment we learned about the death of Socrates.  How he went to trail and was found guilty.  He had multiple chances to get out of death, but   he loved democracy so much he died for it.  He had to drink hemlock for his death.

3/11/13

Today in class we watched the video on the Greeks again.  This is starting to become very shabby.  We didn't watch to much of the video because we spent the first part of the class talking about what we have obtained from the video so far.  Then we started to watch the video and learned about the theater and the plays they put on.  Then we just started to get to Socrates.

3/5/13

Today in class we continued the endless video on the Greeks.  I am starting to believe that this movie will never end.  I'm enjoying the movie, but I just wonder how much information can one put into a movie.  Not too shabby if you ask me.  I have to say my notes are pretty nice and right on accurate.

3/4/13

Today in class we continued the movie about the ancient Greeks.  We got deeper into the true way of life of the Greeks.  Not too shabby if u ask me.  We got to hear about all of the ancient Greeks that shaped their culture and way of life.  I learned how the first democracy was formed.  Also how they used white and black pebbles to determine decisions.
